This month I continue my art journey with my weekly classes in sketching using watercolor, pen & ink.  January’s Talk Art at the Hub was a real success!  I talked about my art and did a demo of my class.  Everyone was invited to participate, and they all left with an original painting done by them. I am excited to announce that I have a new exhibit on Canal Street here in NSB that will be on view for the next 3 months.

In weekly classes, Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church (1-4 pm), and Thursday at The Hub on Canal (12:30-3:30 pm), we explored watercolors. Discussing types like “lift able”, “sedimentary” and “staining”; Students loved it!  We are now working on painting using triads, 3 different colors to compose a painting. If you are interested or have questions about the classes contact me at eokerstrom22@gmail.com

“Red Barn in Snow” , watercolor by Evy Okerstrom, is an example of painting with a palette of 3 colors. Note: I did use Daniel Smith’s “ground” for the snow.

My new exhibit of floral watercolor paintings is at Nature in Beauty Boutique and Parlor.  The Salon’s location is 314 Canal Street, NSB 32168. The hours are 10am to 5pm, M-Sat (closed  Sunday).  Liz Jones, the owner is very supportive of the arts.  The exhibit is sponsored by the Artists’ Workshop of NSB.  Please stop by to see the exhibit and meet Liz and her staff.

From me:  Happy Valentines’ Day to everyone! Take a moment to send a card, or call someone who might be sick or a shut in. It will make their day!

“Red Barn in Field of Yellow Flowers”, watercolor by Evy Okerstrom. Another example of painting with a limited palette of 3 colors.
