A wedding photo of Evy and Madison, taken Saturday, October 10, 2026

October included a trip to North Georgia to celebrate my granddaughter Madison’s wedding. I am sharing a photograph of us together before catching you up on things going on in my art world.
Much of my painting time lately has been in my Monday classes at Trinity. I have started each class with a still life to warm up our drawing skills. This is a good exercise to take time to look closely at shapes, proportions and shadows. I have been doing this for the past month and occasionally asked a student to bring in items that would be interesting to draw. These exercises have reminded me how much there is to discover in ordinary objects. It is a better way to see objects than using reference photographs. I will include some of my sketches here.

After finishing “The Girl with the Pearl Earring”, I am working on a portrait of Mother Teresa. The finished portrait will be done in oil. I am in the beginning stages using charcoal and acrylic to indicate the darker values. Susmita Bando of the Worcester Art museum is my instructor and we continue to meet twice a month on Zoom.

I will have an acrylic painting, “Where the Fish Fly”, in the Florida Women’s Arts Association (FLWAA) at Jane’s Art Center. November 7 to December 27, 2026. The collective is called: “Measured Moments”.

The Trunk or Treat Event at Trinity was a huge success with lots of children and their parents attending. Several of my students participated and displayed their paintings and handed out candy.

“Down East Maine cover from the 1960’s”
“Wild Horses on the Beach”

The Bra-VO! Reception and auction at the Hub on Canal was successful. My youngest student, Mia, 9 years sold her bra, which was in the exhibit. She was thrilled!

One other note: In my class this month we are working on painting 5”x5” framed pictures to sell at Trinity’s Christmas Market Saturday, December 5th. I will include some here.
“Thank you for your continued support, and encouragement.” Evy
