In April, The Hub on Canal announced a new partnership with the New Smyrna Museum of History. The goal is to promote and share the history of our area. Greg Holbrook, Executive Director, gave a presentation to Hub members. He spoke about the original wharf, once the center of town. Andrew Turnbull founded the settlement that became New Smyrna Beach.
The Hub will host a Members Show in June and July. The work will reflect local history. I plan to participate. I have been visiting the museum and studying its artifacts. I will share more next month.
I also completed a second collage, The Begonias. It is a mixed media piece. I began with a watercolor background. I added fabric and paper, and then sealed the surface. The flowers were painted in acrylic. Gold accents were added for highlights. The piece will be framed. Note cards will also be available.

Classes at Trinity Lutheran Church continue with strong attendance. Our spring theme is flowers and gardens. We are studying artists who paint floral subjects. These include Robert Kushner and Claude Monet. We are focusing on composition and value studies this month.
Our Urban Sketching group met on April 12 in Port Orange. We sketched at a VW car show. The event was well attended.
